Obituary


Herbert Brunsen, 84, formerly of Britt, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2002, at his home in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Herbert was born November 28, 1917 in Woden, Iowa to August and Hannah (Bruns) Brunsen.  On December 25, 1940, Herbert was united in marriage with Muriel Bird.

Herbert farmed and had a corn shelling business.  He had been employed at Sankey's Gravel Pit and Winnebago Industries before moving to Bentonville, Arkansas where for the past 21 years he worked for the city of Bentonville.  He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers, Arkansas.

Survivors include four sons: Larry Brunsen and special friend, Suz Dandy of Remsen, Iowa James and Sandra Brunsen of Britt, Dale and Ruth Brunsen of Algona, Richard and Darla Brunsen of Algona; two daughters Donna Banta and special friend, Red Ward of Garner and Sandra Brunsen of Bentonville Arkansas; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother August Brunsen, Jr. and his wife, Mary Ann of Bloomington, Minnesota; four sisters: Ann Kindle of Iowa City, Iowa Burdella Purdy of Indianola, Iowa, Bertha Leerar of Britt, Betty and Marvin Sherman of Wilton, Iowa; three sisters-in-law: Rosie Brunsen of Britt, Frances Brunsen of Britt, and Mary and Clarence Becker of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his wife Muriel in July 2000, one great-grandson, and three brothers Fritz, Henry, and John Brunsen.
