Ila Ailene (Turner) Mayes

Ila Ailene Mayes, 93, of Clarion passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Belmond Medical Center in Belmond.

Funeral services for Ila Mayes will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012, at 10:30 AM at the United Church of Christ Congregational, 121 Third Avenue North West, in Clarion with Pastor Bill Kem officiating.  Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2012, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Ila A. Turner eldest child of William and Marie Turner was born and raised in Illinois. She married Kenneth W. Mayes on September 18, 1940, and the couple moved to Clarion in 1950. Kenneth passed away in 1975.  Ila worked at New Clarion Produce for 15 years and Allen Printing Company for 17 years, before retiring in 1988.  She has been a member of United Church of Christ Congregational since March of 1959, where she served two terms on the Deaconate Board. Ila was also a volunteer for bingo at Careage of Clarion.

Ila is survived by her sons, Wendell (Beth Menges) Mayes of Clarion and William Mayes of Worland, Wyoming; grandchildren, Connie (Kevin) Schlesky, Kristin (Doug) Watne, Bill (Charmin) Mayes and Penny Rodriquez; great-grandchildren, Zach, Joe, Sarah, Lauren, Ryan, Kenaya, Ciera and Jasmin; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Norene Rouland and sisters-in-law, Alice Espe and Lela Mayes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth and 3 brothers.
