Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond. Pastor Alan Schulz will officiate. Burial will be in the Belmond Cemetery.
Imogene Carol, the daughter of Clarence and Ethel Beier Cook, was born July 21, 1933, in Hancock County near Kanawha. She grew up in the Kanawha area where she attended school. Imogene graduated from Kanawha High School in 1951.
Imogene was united in marriage to Ray Wicks on Oct. 3, 1949, in Minneapolis. The couple made their home on a farm between Kanawha and Belmond. Ray farmed and Imogene worked as a housewife and mother. The couple was blessed with four children — Cindy, Randy, Connie and Chris. Imogene was a genuine farm wife and mother. She helped Ray on the farm as well as made sure she always helped and followed the kids in their pursuits. Outside of the home, Imogene worked for Charlotte Gabrielson at her clothing store Chargo's and Printing Services in Belmond.
In 1974, Imogene and Ray moved to Belmond, where they lived on Eighth Avenue Northeast. The Wicks' enjoyed traveling and especially loved spending winters in Arizona. Imogene also was fond of traveling to California to visit son, Randy and other relatives. Imogene was a gifted artistic person and enjoyed creating all sorts of crafts and oil paintings. She and Ray often participated in crafts and wood-working together.
Imogene was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Belmond. Imogene was a long-time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond. She dearly loved singing in the Trinity Lutheran Church Choir. Imogene did not even let her move to the nursing home prevent her from practicing and singing weekly. Imogene's enormous personality, passion for friendship and loving spirit will be greatly missed.
Imogene is survived three daughters, Cindy Bailey and her husband, Bill, of Davenport, Connie Wicks of Iowa City, and Chris Huffman and husband, Joel, of Sergeant Bluff; four grandchildren — Jeff, Amy, Justin and Jordan; two great-grandchildren, Braydan and Liam; and numerous other relatives and friends.
