Obituary


  Jacqueline LaMere Granskog, 68, of Britt, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012, at Hancock County Health System in Britt.

A memorial service for Jacqueline Granskog will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 2:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 139 3rd Street SE, in Britt with Rev. Dennis Miller officiating.  There will be a gathering of family and friends from 1 to 2 p.m. and coffee and bars will follow the ceremony. Ewing Funeral Home in Britt will be handling arrangements. 

Jacqueline Hooper was born in Detroit, Michigan, July 24, 1944. Jackie was raised in Ferndale, a suburb of Detroit, and moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan once married to her first husband, David LaMere. The two of them, with their children, came to Britt, Iowa in the early ‘70s to farm. The couple returned to the U.P. in 1985. Before returning to Britt four years ago, Jackie resided in Rapid River, Michigan with her second husband Raymond Granskog. She was active with the Upper Peninsula Sled Dog Association, while nurturing an intense love for the outdoors and all of Michigan’s native wildlife.

Surviving Ms. Granskog are her children, Dawn (Mitch) Hiscocks of Carroll, Iowa; Robert (Carrie) LaMere of Panama City, Florida; Grandchildren Morgan, Samuel, and Dakota Hiscocks, Ellie (Marc) Hempstead, Joshua Hilbert, Rachel, Erik, Steven, Zak, and Eli LaMere; Brother-in-law R.J. Paul and Nephew Robert Paul of Higgins Lake, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Arlene Hooper, husband Raymond Granskog, sister Patricia Paul, and first husband David LaMere.
