James "Jim" Moen, 88, of Clarion, peacefully passed away Saturday, October 4,
2014, with family by his side at the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services for Jim Moen will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 10,
2014, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 183 2nd Avenue, Thompson, with Pastor Lynn J.
Noel officiating. Internment will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery in
Thompson.
The family will greet friends one hour prior at the church.
James "Jim" Moen was born on February 3, 1926, in Thompson, Iowa to Josie and
Cornell Moen. He grew up and spent all of his life in Thompson until moving to
Clarion in 2001. On July 31, 1949, Jim married Gereene Norem at The Little Brown
Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union, two sons were born. Jim was a man of
many talents and trades. He was a farmer and a carpenter as well as a
fertilizer plant manager until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed fishing,
gardening, woodworking, puzzling, home improvement projects for family and
friends but most of all; he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends
which made his life fulfilled and happy.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church for over 50 years where he served as
president and member of the council for several years. His faith was one of the
most important and key parts of his life, and he left an imprint on each and
every person he met.
Jim is survived by his wife and best friend of 65 years, Gereene; his sons,
Donald (Phyllis) Moen of Hannibal, MO and Robert (Sheila) Moen of West Des
Moines; grandchildren, Shannon (Nikki) Moen of Dayton, OH, Justin (Morgan) Moen
of Versailles, IL, Matthew (Anita) Moen of Toronto, ON and Brandi Moen of
Plymouth, MN and six great grandchildren, Brianna, Ty, Makennah, Rylee, Treyton
and Bentley Moen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornell and Josie Moen.
