James Lee Purvis, 70, of Britt went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 6, 2022
after a long battle with early onset frontotemporal dementia.
Funeral services for James Purvis will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 10:30
AM at the Britt United Methodist Church, 707 4th Street South West in Britt,
with Pastor Robert Dodge officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in
Britt.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Ewing
Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt, and continue one hour prior to
services at the church on Friday.
Jim was born on August 17, 1951 to Donald and Evelyn (Ross) Purvis.
After graduating from Wellsburg School in 1969 he continued his education at
Ellsworth Community College (1971) and Mankato State (1973) graduating with a
business degree.
For many years he worked in the music business rubbing shoulders with
celebrities like Reba McEntire, George Strait and Kiss.
Jim committed his life to the Lord and was an active member of the Britt United
Methodist Church teaching Sunday School, being on various boards and president
of the men's group.
He was known for his saddle shoes, love of the Iowa Hawkeyes and never missed
following everything his grandchildren participated in. Jim enjoyed traveling to
various parts of the country and was known to randomly pick a location and tell
Jeanie "that's where we are going".
Jim is survived by his wife of 24 years Jeanie; children Jeremy (Cody) Purvis
their children Cameron and Jordy, Jillana (Blaine) Lefler their children
Annabelle and Willow, Brandi (Ryan) Hiscocks their children Riley, Parker, and
Brinley, Rachael (Jake) Zuehl their children Kane, Kale, and Kia, Bobbi (Andy)
Bruggeman their children Maddie and Charlie, Hollie (Donnie) Dallman their
children Brock and Patrick, siblings Dean (Cathy) Purvis, Bonnie Buchholtz and
Jean (Jerry) Gilmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents,
sister Linda and brother-in-law Bill Buchholtz and sister-in-law Robyn Purvis.
