Obituary


Jan Raber, 64, of Kanawha passed away Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services for Jan Raber will be held Monday, December 10, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Britt with Rev. Brian Dellaert and Rev. Jerry Kopacek officiating.  Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 9, 2007 from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Ewing Dugger Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt and one hour prior to services at the church.  Rosary will be said at 5:00 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus.

Jan Fredric Raber was born at home on August 10, 1943 to Glenn and Alice (Graeber) Raber.  He graduated from Kanawha High School in 1961.

On July 18, 1964, Jan was united in marriage with Irene Paca at St. Wensceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan, Iowa.  Through the years he was employed by Kanawha Coop Oil Company, Britt Cooperative, Kiefer Built in Kanawha and drove truck for Tim Johnson Trucking of Kanawha.

Jan enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, Rendezvousing, woodworking and playing cribbage with friends.

Jan was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Britt and the Knights of Columbus.  He was also a member of the Kanawha Fire Department for over 20 years.

Jan is survived by his wife Irene of Kanawha; two sons: Steve Raber of Britt, Tim (Andrea) Raber of Clear Lake; one daughter Pam (Joe) Pritchard of Clear Lake; five grandchildren: Ryan, Angela, Emily and Ellen Pritchard and Mitchell Raber; one brother Michael (Angela) Tague of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister Glenda (Kevin) Healy of North Las Vegas, Nevada and numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Kathryn Pritchard and brother Leroy Tague.
