Janice Henken, 84, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March
23, 2023 at MercyOne North Iowa Hospice in Mason City.
Memorial services for Janice Henken will be held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, March
29, 2023 at Ewing Funeral Chapel 178 Center Street West in Britt with Pastor Les
Green officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on
Wednesday.
Janice Lee (Oppedal) Henken, the daughter of Donald and Vivian (Robison)
Oppedal, was born on August 18, 1938 on her grandparent's farm outside of
Garner. Janice graduated from MacArthur High School in Decatur, Illinois.
After high school, Janice moved back to her grandparent's farm in Garner where
she met her husband Fred W. Henken, Jr. The couple was married on April 15,
1961. To this union, three children were born Jennifer, Jeffrey and Jason.
The couple raised their family in Crystal Lake where Janice excelled at taking
care of her home and family. With her loving and kind ways, Janice was a
nursing assistant and did in-home health care for many years in the area. She
also worked at El-San in Crystal Lake.
In her free time, she enjoyed fishing and hunting for Indian artifacts with her
husband, was an avid reader, and was always up to date with her grandchildren's
activities. She was an active member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, the
Women's Legion Auxiliary and the Senior Center in Crystal Lake.
She truly loved her family and put everyone ahead of herself. She was a loving
wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Janice is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Steve) Kloberdanz of Plainfield,
Illinois and their children Shannon (Tyler Fritsch) Kloberdanz and Trevor
Kloberdanz; son Jeffrey (Andrea) Henken of Sachsenhausen, Germany and their
children Christina (Thomas) Heid and Lisa Henken (Dennis Schönig); son Jason
(Heather) Henken of Garner and their children Andrew (Kayla) Henken, Carter
Henken and Riley Henken; great-grandchildren Marlon Heid, Jannis Heid, and
Miles Henken; sister Cathy (Jeff) Spengler; brother Paul Oppedal along with many
nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Fred W. Henken, Jr.
