Jay Richard Jackson, 48, passed away from cancer on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at the Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion. A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date. Jay was born on February 2, 1972 and grew up in Lake City, Iowa. He attended Central College in Pella where he graduated in 1994. Jay settled in Clarion with his family in 2000 to teach at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows where he taught for 20 years. Jay was also a coach for multiple sports. Jay loved being with his family, teaching his students and coaching his athletes. Jay is survived by his wife of 27 years, Terri, and his children Treyor, Maya, Thane and Tate. He is also survived by his mother Linda Jackson and her sisters Linette Sondegroth and Terri Martin. Jay was preceded in death by his brother Jason Jackson Jay's family asks that any memorial contributions be sent directly to Gateway Hospice, 103 2nd Avenue North East, Clarion, Iowa, 50525. Any contributions that have already been sent to the family or the funeral home will be directed to Gateway Hospice if cash, or returned to the sender if check.
