Jeanette W. (Prideaux) Den Hartog, 90, of Oskaloosa and formerly of Clarion,
passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Mahaska Health in Oskaloosa.
Memorial services for Jeanette Den Hartog will be held on Saturday, August 15,
2020 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 201 3rd Avenue North East in
Clarion, with Pastor Mike Gudka officiating. Burial will take place at Evergreen
Cemetery in Clarion.
Visitation for Jeanette Den Hartog will be held one hour prior to services at
the church on Saturday, August 15, 2020.
Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church in Clarion.
Jeanette Wilma, daughter of Frank and Clara (Ofstethun) Prideaux, was born on
January 29, 1930 in Iowa City. Jeanette grew up in Clarion and graduated from
Clarion High School in 1948.
Jeanette was united in marriage to Howard Den Hartog on May 29, 1956. The couple
resided and raised their family in Clarion for 24 years. Jeanette worked
alongside her husband as they operated the Clarion Flying Service and also
farmed together. In 1980, they moved to Sheldon. After Howard's death, Jeanette
returned to Clarion, and lived there until she moved to Pella and then Oskaloosa
in the last few years.
Jeanette loved to travel and visit her family. She was an avid quilter, and
completed one for each of her daughters and all of her grandchildren. While at
the care center in Oskaloosa, Jeanette enjoyed playing Bingo and eating
ice-cream daily.
Jeanette was a member of the United Methodist Church; WMC Hospital Auxiliary,
Clarion; Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant, Cedar Falls; Rebekah Lodge,
Webster City; and past State Oracle, Royal Neighbors of America, Humboldt.
Jeanette is survived by her three daughters Susan (Robert) Bateson of Oskaloosa,
Karen (Sean) Sage of O'Fallon, Missouri, and Carolyn (Harlan) Hill of Fort
Collins, Colorado; her 15 grandchildren, DeDra (Darren) Ashcraft, Heath (Kim)
Waddell, James (Natalia) Bateson, Jill (Sam) Kruger, Julie (Anthony) Counsell,
Kristi (Dan) Luechtefeld, Joni (Steve) Horvath, Leslie Sage, Mark (Nikky) Hill,
Michael (Janay) Hill, Rachel (Ben) Brunswick, Kevin (Alyssa) Hill, Jonathan
(Sarah) Hill, Rebekah (Cody) Przybylski, and David Hill, and 17
great-grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Howard in 1990; daughter Kathryn
Waddell; grandson Jason Baiotto; and her parents, Frank and Clara Prideaux.
