Obituary


Jeffrey D. Burt, 68, of Goodell, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019, at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City.

Funeral services for Jeffrey Burt will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond, with Pastor Mark Peterson officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Jeffrey Dana Burt, the son of Donald and Jean (McGrath) Burt was born November 3, 1950 in Clarion, Iowa. He attended school in Belmond, and graduated with the class of 1968.

In 1969, Jeffrey married Janet Beach, and to this union, son Eric was born. He worked for a farmer at ‘The Ranch’ for a time before beginning his military service in 1970. He was later discharged.

He moved back to Belmond, and in 1977, he married Joan Lieberknecht, and to this union, daughters Erin and Kylee were born. He worked with the family tiling business, Burt Brothers and Backhoe for 3 years, and following that, worked for Burt-Thompson Drainage. Jeffrey also enjoyed work as an over the road truck driver, where he enjoyed his weekly trips to the South and East Coasts.

Jeffrey enjoyed being surrounded by nature, especially practicing his amateur photography, picking rhubarb and asparagus, and looking at the stars. He and his companion Lori loved to travel and experience adventures together, having no trouble getting lost. He will be remembered for being a genuine, stubborn, good hearted man who loved animals, loved people, and most of all, loved his family.

Jeffrey is survived by his children Eric (Kristi) Burt and their son Max Burt of Mason City, Erin Burt and her son Owen of Belmond, and Kylee (Eric) Lamb and their children Adasyn Lamb, Kysen Lamb, and Lynken Lamb of Belmond; mother Jean Burt, long time companion Lori Kuester, and brothers Steven Burt and Randy (Marcia) Burt.

He is preceded in death by his father Donald Burt, and his sister Barbara Franzen.
