Obituary


 Jennie Irene Eekhoff, 91, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2001, at Westview Care Center in Britt.

Jennie, the daughter of Albert and Eva (Borchers) Nieman was born August 8, 1910 on the family farm near Kanawha.  She received her education in the Amsterdam Township country school.

Jennie was united in marriage with John Eekhoff on February 22, 1933, at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church Parsonage.  The couple farmed in the areas of Kanawha and Britt until retiring in 1974.  Later the same year they purchased a home and moved into Kanawha.  John passed away on December 23, 1983.  Jennie continued to reside in her home in Kanawha until March of 2000, when she became a resident of Westview Care Center in Britt, following a fall.

Her family was a great joy to her and she loved helping care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and helping with the Kanahwa Congregate Meals.

She was a member of Kanawha Christian Reformed Church and the Ladies Aid Society.

Jennie is survived by her children: John and his wife, Themla, of Kanawha, Albert and his wife, Roberta of Nevada, Naomi Erickson and her husband, Kenneth of Washington, and Don and his wife, Barb of Britt; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother Martin Nieman and his wife, Joyce of Britt, one sister-in-law June Nieman of Britt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, one daughter Jeanine, one grandson, Albert, Jr., two sisters Tena and Grace, and three brothers Casper, Ed, and John.
