Jennie (Nelson) Love, 69, of Mason City and formerly of Britt, cherished wife, mom and grandmother, left us on May 6, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Mason City. She fought the good fight for 3 years before losing to cancer. Memorial visitation for Jennie Love will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt. Jennie Marie was born September 8, 1955, in Forest City, Iowa to Leif and Jennie (Janssen) Nelson. She attended school in Britt and graduated from Britt High School. Jennie met her husband Alan while attending school, they were together for 53 years and married for 49 of them. After receiving her nursing degree from NIACC and her BSN from the University of Iowa Jennie spent the next 37 years in nursing, 17 of which were in Critical Care. In 2006 Jennie was awarded the Nurse Hero Award for the State of Iowa for saving the life a choking young man. Jennie cared deeply for her family and patients. Her faith was very strong, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, ministry to others and love. She is survived by her husband Alan, her sons Alan Jr. and Daniel, seven grandchildren, Jonathan Love, Mady Love, Logan Love, Laci Love, Landon Love, Lanie Love, and Kayley Savard, brothers Ervin Nelson (Jan), James Nelson (Peggy), sisters Marie Hoff (Ron), Ella Nelson, Diane Dodd (Scott), Ann Ostercamp. She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law Leroy Love, and brother-in-law Thomas Love.
