Jerald E. Richardson, 76, passed away Monday, March 16, 1998, at the Hospice of
North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.
Jerald, the son of Ivan and Esther (Gozzy) Richardson, was born November 20,
1921, in Britt, Iowa. He attended schools in the Britt area. He moved to
Stilson to live with his grandparent's following the death of his mother where
he worked as a farm hand for area farmers in Stilson. Jerald served in the U.S.
Navy during WW II for six years. He served on the USS Missouri and witnessed
the signing of the Peace Treaty between the United States and the Government of
Japan. Following his discharge, he returned to Britt. On June 19, 1948, he was
united in marriage with Lela Fett in Goodell, Iowa. The couple made their home
in Britt where Jerald was employed for many years at Kerns Implement.
Jerald was a member of the V.F.W. & N.R.A. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and
gardening.
Jerald is survived by his wife, Lela; one sister: Jeanette Dickhuis and her
husband, Harbert of Mason City, IA; and one brother: Ralph Richardson and his
wife, Rose of Des Moines, IA. He is also survived by Bill Richardson of Elgin,
TX and Mary McCillin of Kaufman, TX, which Jerald and Lela took into their home;
and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
