Jerry Craig, 83, of Britt passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at the Hancock County Health Systems in Britt. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 26, 2022 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt. Jerry Jon Craig, the son of Jack and Janet (Hertig) Craig, was born June 26, 1939 in Algona, Iowa.  He grew up in the Eagle Grove and Humboldt areas. Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorable discharged after 4 years of service. After moving home, Jerry was united in marriage to Janice Odland on June 10, 1961 at Lake Lutheran Church in rural Goldfield. To this union, children Jackie and Jerry Lee were born.  The couple raised their family in Forest City. Jerry started working for Waldorf University as a boilmaker and worked his way up to the supervisor of buildings and grounds.  He also attended Barber College in Waterloo. In his free time, Jerry loved being outdoors and camping with his family.  They took many trips and had a cabin in Minnesota.  There he loved to boat and sit around the campfire. He will be remembered as a loving caring family man. Jerry is survived by his wife of 62 years Janice Craig of Britt; daughter Jackie Craig of Britt; son Jerry Lee (Dawn) Craig of Forest City; grandchildren Jason (Tina) Hanson, Kimberly Hanson, Jerry Allen (Heather) Craig, Travis Michelson and Tina (John) Pratt; six great- grandchildren; sisters Joyce Brownfield, Jane Greenfield, Bobbi Finn and Joan Craig; brother Dean Craig; sister-in-law Judy Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, his sister and three brothers-in-law.
