Jessie A. Poncin, 87, of Galt, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Clarion United Church of Christ Congregational. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Jessie Ann (Aukerman) was born September 9, 1938 in Akron, Ohio to James and Norma (Amann) Aukerman. The family moved to Kanawha, Iowa in the early 1950's where her father James was the band director at the Kanawha School. When he passed away, the family moved to Galion, Ohio.
Jessie was united in marriage to Gary Wicks in 1954. Together they had three children: Kelly, Carolyn and Scott. They were divorced several years later. Then in September of 1980, Jessie was united in marriage to Nathan Poncin of Galt. They made their home on the farm near Galt.
Over the years, Jessie worked at Hagie Manufacturing, Clarion Super Valu, and later for Ella Gangestad at Hearts and Flowers flower shop. She loved to knit and crochet and she enjoyed gardening and yard work on their farm. She also loved art and music. Jessie was an active member of United Church of Christ Congregational in Clarion.
Survivors include her children, Kelly (Barb) Wicks of Clarion, Carolyn (Edward) Dorsey of Hubbard, and Scott (Paola) Wicks of Tennessee; grandchildren, Danielle (Scott) Scheffel, Jenna (Jacob) Martin, Quinn (Danielle) Wicks, Josey Wicks and Brian, Ethan Wicks and Karly, Adam Wicks and Matty, David (Heather) Dorsey, and Sarah (Josh) Aldag; great-grandchildren Spencer and Carly Scheffel, Connor and Cora Martin, Drew and Dylan Dorsey, Ian and Mason Aldag, and Sofia Wicks; brother-in-law James Ginder of Kingsport, TN, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, sister Nancy Ginder of Kingsport, TN, and her husband Nathan.
