Obituary


John Stegman, 49, of Wesley passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt with Pastor Joel DeBoer officiating.  Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2011 from 5-7 pm at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West, in Britt and will continue one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

John Everett Stegman, the son of Jacob John and Virginia (Garbett) Stegman, was born on February 22, 1962 in Emmetsburg.

John was in the Army reserve from 1981-1989 achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.  John enjoyed his work at Golden Grain Energy in Mason City.  He loved spending time with his family especially his children.

John was very active in the town Wesley having been a member of the Wesley Community Club from 2002-2007 helping plan events such as the 4th of July celebrations.  He loved to play golf in the summer, and was part of the pool leagues at the Red Rooster in Britt and Johnny’s in Wesley.

John loved all sports, but he was happiest when he could watch the Minnesota Twins or Iowa Hawkeye games.  He thoroughly enjoyed playing baseball, coaching for Wesley Little League for three years and was a master when it came to the grill.

John is survived by his two children: Brent Stegman and Samantha Stegman; sister Catherine Stegman of Omaha, Nebraska; brothers: James Stegman of Spencer, Micheal Stegman of Clear Lake and Thomas Stegman of West Des Moines; along with nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
