Obituary


John F. Buzicky, 75, of Britt, passed away Friday, March 3, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa in Mason City.

He was born January 27, 1931 in Britt, Iowa, the son of John C. and Helen (Falada) Buzicky.  He attended the county school in Liberty Township and graduated from Britt High School in 1948.  He served two years in the army during the Korean War.  On June 28, 1960, John married Elaine Nowak at St. Casimir's Catholic Church in Wells, Minnesota.  He farmed on the family farm south of Duncan and also operated a TV repair shop.  He played in several bands for 25+ years, including the Northern Bohemians and the Cal Smith Band.  After retiring from farming in 1979, he worked for Wellik-DeWitt Implement for 20 years.

He was a lifelong member of St. Wencelaus Catholic Church in Duncan and member of the Catholic Workman branch #51 for 60+ years, where he served as past treasurer, reporter, and messenger.  He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #315 - Britt, Knights of Columbus Council #8610 - Britt, and the Federation of Musicians Local 230 in Mason City.

John enjoyed music, gardening, woodworking, children, grandchildren, and family.  He loved to travel.

He is survived by his wife Elaine and five children: Myron Buzicky (Loida Martinez and son Christopher) of Queen Creek, Arizona; Karen Connor (husband Brad and son Ian) of Britt; Mark Buzicky (wife Julie, daughter Ashlea, and son Austin) of Woodbury, Minnesota; Sharon Jannusch (husband Matt) of Mahtomedi, Minnesota; and Mike Buzicky (wife Tina and sons Chase and Lake) of Hudson, Wisconsin.  He is also survived by brother Joe Buzicky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Vincent, two sisters - Cleta Stupka and Sally Malek, and grandson Nicholas Connor.
