Jon D. Weiland

Jon Darrell Weiland, 43, of Britt died as a result of a car accident on December 19, 2009.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Britt with Reverend Robert Dodge officiating.  Inurnment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West, in Britt and continue one hour prior to services at the church.     

Jon was born on August 4, 1966 in Britt, the son of Orville and Marilyn (Price) Weiland.  He graduated from C-W-L in 1984, and furthered his education at Northwest Iowa Community College.   At the age of 18, Jon was involved in an electrical accident that left him with prosthesis on his right leg.  He truly got a second chance at life.  Jon was united in marriage to Janelle Hardgrove on July 16, 1988 in Algona and to this union three children were born.  The couple was later separated.

He enjoyed spending time with his children, which included boating, bowling, wrestling, and following their numerous activities.  He loved tinkering around with anything with a motor and was also a talented artist who painted custom golf carts and motorcycles.  Jon spent a period of his life following his passion of music by being a disc jockey.   At the time of his death he was employed at Monson & Sons Trucking in Britt.

Jon is survived by his children, Jake, Jenna, Jordan all of Britt; the children’s mother, Janelle Weiland; his mother, Marilyn (Don) Pecoy; his siblings: Pat (Bob) Frayne of Clear Lake, David (Susan) Weiland of Algona, Betty (Craig) Erpelding of Algona, Judy (David) Weber of Corwith;  step-brothers: Jeff (Linda) Dangelser and Adrian Dangelser; his numerous nieces and nephews; and his special friend Ginger Daugard.

He was preceded in death by his father Orville Weiland, step-mother Dorla Weiland, and his grandparents.
