Jose L. 'El Chief' Simental, 57, of Clarion passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial for Jose Simental will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. John's Catholic Church, 608 2nd Avenue Northeast in Clarion, with Father Jerry Blake officiating. Burial will be held at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Clarion. A scriptural wake and rosary will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, with visitation to follow until 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion. Jose Luis, son of Luis Simental and Maria A. Melchor, was born on July 16, 1961 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Jose was married to Mercedes Medina in 1990 in Maine. The couple was blessed with three children. In 2001, Jose and his family moved from Maine to Clarion. He worked at Decoster Farms and most recently at Centrum Valley Farms. If Jose wasn't working, he was at home watching European or Mexican soccer. He occasionally enjoyed trips to the casino. But more than anything, his family was most important to him. Jose always called and checked in with all of his family and greeted them with big hugs whenever he saw them. Jose is survived by his wife Mercedes of Clarion; three children Dulce Simental of Eagle Grove, Jose 'Lenny' Simental of Florida, and Ruby Simental Baez of Veracruz, Mexico; 11 grandchildren Chrystal, Maria, Pedro, Alex, Divina, Oscar, Marilena, Cristian, Edgar, Ximena, and Aniyah; five great grandchildren Armando, Anabella, Elias, Anali, and Anuel; brother Miguel Simental; and two sisters Patricia Torres and Rosario Estrada.
