Obituary


Joseph G. Reyna, 68, of Clarion, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

A funeral service for Joseph Reyna will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 15, 2015, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 608 2nd Avenue North East in Clarion, with Reverend Jerry Blake officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion, with a Scriptural Wake Service beginning at 5:00 PM.

Graveside services for Joseph Reyna will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at Evergreen Cemetery, Highway 3 East, in Clarion.

Joseph Gabriel Reyna was born on January 18, 1947, to Marcelino (Mike Sr.) and Aurelia (Mary) Reyna in Clarion.  He was raised in Clarion and attended St John’s Catholic School through 8th grade and then graduated from Clarion High School where he played football, baseball and wrestled. Joe was also selected to the late coach Bergstrom’s dream football team.  After high school, he joined the Army where he served two years during which he boxed and wrestled.

Joe was united in marriage to Mary Griffith in 1971.  To this union one son, Mike was born.   He later joined his life with Delores (Anderson/Johnson) and they were united in marriage in 1997.  Joe and Dee made their home in Clarion, Iowa where he worked for the Clarion Elevator Service for many years.

Joe enjoyed many pastimes; playing cards, bowling, playing pool, hunting, and spending time with his family.   He enjoyed going to the casino and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Joe is survived by his wife, Delores (Dee), his children, Mike (Laura) Reyna of Shell Rock IA, Jodi Ainger of Belmond, and Mike Johnson of Clarion; three granddaughters, Christine, Courtney, and Cailey Reyna of Shell Rock IA; two grandsons, Jared Ainger of Belmond, and Colby Johnson of Pierce NE; a great-grandson, Connigar Johnson; a sister, Angel Fisher of Ames; brothers, John Reyna of Eagle Grove, Mike Jr (Darlene) Reyna of Slater MO, Frank (Georgia Ann) Reyna of Walnut IA, Gabe Reyna of Holmes, Rich (the late Vicki) Reyna of Higginsville MO and Dan (Nancy) Reyna of Clarion.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Phyllis and husband Harold Waddell and sister, Alice and husband Francis Stumpf.
