Judith "Judy" Ann Austerman, 71, of Lisbon, Iowa and formerly of Britt passed away June 9th, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Judy was surrounded by her family as she was welcomed home to be with Jesus. Funeral services for Judy Austerman will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt. Visitation for Judy Austerman will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Ewing Funeral Chapel and will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday. Judy was an amazing mother to Bruce Meinders (Susan Zeman), Brian Meinders, and Shane (Jackee) Austerman. The pride of her life were her grandchildren, Samuel Meinders (son of Bruce) and Isaiah and Elizabeth Austerman. She also took great joy in being a sister, aunt, and friend. In addition to her biological family she was a confidant, advisor, friend, and grandma to many, including Afton Webb and her children Brenna and Jayden Grandgeorge, all of her co-workers (too many to name), and all the people she accepted in her life without regard to their circumstances. Judy's greatest joy in life was making people feel loved, welcomed, and cared about. Her unyielding strength and courage were evidenced throughout her life. She moved across the country as a teenager, raised three sons as a single mother, worked multiple jobs, owned and managed restaurants, fought cancer, and loved people without judgement. Her lasting legacy will live on within the many people she made feel so good about themselves. She had an uncanny ability to be present in other people's lives, putting others before herself, no matter the hardship she was working through. She took pride in being called Bruce, Brian, and Shane's Mom, and later in life Grandma Judy. Judy was born August 5, 1946 to Floyd Austerman and Lois (Jennings) Jenkins in Richmond, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; many uncles and aunts; her infant son, Robby; the father of her sons (Robby, Bruce, and Brian) Larry Meinders, and Terry "King" Mattoon. Judy is survived by her sons and significant others: Bruce (Susan), Brian, and Shane (Jackee); her grandchildren: Samuel, Isaiah, and Elizabeth; her siblings: Tom Austerman, Melissa (Jenkins) Brim, and Kirk Jenkins; her step-father: Estin Jenkins; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
