Obituary


June DeLano, age 93, of Clarion, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2004, at U.S.A. Health Center in Clarion, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at the Ewing Dugger Funeral Home, in Clarion with Pastor Stan Watne officiating. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday February 23, 2004 at the Ewing Dugger Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Tuesday.

June was born on June 11, 1910 in rural Franklin County to Charles and Lena (Gerdes) Kahler. She married Alfred DeLano, the love of her life, on June 2, 1928 in Marshalltown, Iowa. They shared 34 wonderful years together. In 1962 she was employed by the Clarion Hospital in the Diet Services Department where she later retired in 1972. June was an active member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Royal Neighbors, and DFW Senior Citizens. Her hobbies were quilting and crocheting, many of her creations were donated to the many charity activities she supported.

Her surviving legacy are her three sons, Herbert of White River, Arizona, Melvin and his wife, Rowena, of Euless, Texas, and Larry and his wife Raynee, of Alamogordo, New Mexico. Sisters, Marie Ruiter of Thornton, and Avon Kohl of River Falls, Wisconsin. Twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

June was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Alfred, brothers, Lavere and Donnie, daughter, Shirley Lerdal, son, Gerald, daughter -in-law Betty, grandson, Herby and her long time companion, Butterball, her cat. We would like to thank the staff of USA Health Care Center for the special care they gave June.
