Obituary


June Haugland Gordon, 79, of Buffalo Center passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Titonka Care Center in Titonka.

Funeral services for June Gordon will be held on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 201 4th Street North East, Buffalo Center, Iowa with Pastor Perry Aalgaard officiating.  Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center and continue one hour prior to services at the church.

June Marilyn Gordon, the daughter of William and Johanna Mata (Floy) Johnson, was born on June 7, 1930 in Thornton, Iowa.  She grew up in Clear Lake through her Junior High years then moved to Britt in 1948 to continue her education.

After school, June stayed at home to take care of her mother until she met Stanley Haugland.  The couple was married August 1, 1951 at the Methodist Church in Crystal Lake.  They made there home in the Crystal Lake and Britt area.

June was a cook for Westview and Timely Mission in Buffalo Center for almost 30 years before retiring at the age of 60.  On February 4, 1984 she was united in marriage to Virgil Gordon.  The couple made their home in Buffalo Center.

June was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center where she was involved with various circles.  She was formerly a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake and was a Sunday school teacher, involved in circles and played piano.  She was Past-President of the VFW Auxiliary in Britt and Buffalo Center and volunteered for the Bison Senior Center Congregate Meals for the last several years.

June loved taking care of her family and spending time with her grandchildren.  She enjoyed embroidering blankets, reading books and watching old movies, especially John Wayne.

June is survived by her children: Marcia (Gary) Farrow of Lakota, Kenneth (Cherlyn) Haugland of Alton, Illinois and Richard (Debbie) Haugland of Greenville, Illinois; 12 grandchildren: Samantha, Travis, Christi, Mindy, Amanda, Ashley, Cody, Angela Dawn, Justin, Angela Sue, Eric and Amber; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Virgil; 4 sisters: Wilma Stites, Leola Hanson, Esther LaGue and Lorraine Drabek; 2 brothers: Howard and Kenneth Johnson; and 4 siblings in infancy.
