Obituary


Kate Selma (Wubben) Knapper was born July 5, 1910, in Delavan, Tazewell County, Illinois, the eldest daughter of Simon and Gertje (Wiltz) Wubben.  The family soon moved to the Titonka area, completing their immigration from Loquard, Germany.

On June 25, 1929, she was united in marriage to Jerry B. Knapper at Slayton, Murray County, Minnesota.  They lived in the Titonka and Bancroft areas before moving to Hutchins in 1937.  There were three children born to them: Eloise, Goldon, and Adeline.  Kate was a long-time Stanley dealer and very active in the Bethel Baptist Church.

She passed away June 4, 1994, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City where she had lived for the past five years.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Eloise Skelley, Corwith; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Arlene Knappper, Forest City; six grandchildren: Robert Skelley, Indianola; Jerry Knapper and wife Bonnie, Nashville, Tennessee; Douglas Knapper and wife, Julie Forest City; Victoria (Knapper) Nielsen and husband Phillip, Des Moines; and David Knapper and wife Sarah, Phoenix, Arizona; eight great-grandchildren: Jaclyn and Samuel Knapper, Nashville, Tennesse; Chad and Holly Nielsen, Lakevilee, Minnesota; and Aaron, Joseph, Sarah, and John Knapper of Forest City.  Also surviving are one brother, John Wubben, Buffalo Center; and two sisters, Helen Eehuis, Garner, and Darlene Trumble of Payson, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1982, her children: Goldon in 1988 and Adeline in 1936, six brothers and one sister.
