Obituary

Katherine ‘Kat’ L. Lodge, 58, of Clarion, drew her last breath Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.

A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion.

Kat was born May 6, 1960 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to George and Edith Lodge.  Her early years were spent mostly in Ohio and Colorado. After moving to Colorado with her family in her teens, she worked odd jobs around the racetracks in the Denver area to help pay for the stabling of her horse. She graduated high school in Castle Rock, Colorado. She attended the University Of Denver, graduating with honors.

Her love of horses and job at a leading camera shop led her into professional photography as a sideline. She was a familiar sight around Dressage competitions and was commissioned to do many portraits of the horses in those events. She also did landscapes, tennis tournaments and other sporting events. When the retail store she worked at went into the Insurance Replacement arena, she shifted to that area of the business, becoming one of the top replacement specialists.

Kat enjoyed reading and books. She also loved nature and all living things. In her younger years, she was a certified Deep Sea Diver; she loved the sea and all its creatures. Kat was an avid gardener, and could often be seen at the community garden in Clarion, where she spent many hours. She loved animals of all kinds. If it was slower than her, it was in her hands or arms. Birds, cats, dogs, frogs, turtles, she loved them all.

Kat was a very generous person, giving of her time, expertise and material goods. Birds, squirrels, stray and lost cats have all found food and shelter with her. She was active in the Clarion Coin Club, the Marys and Marthas Group and was a member of the Wright County Humane Society.

Kat is survived by her brother Kent and his wife Laura, of Denver, Colorado, nephew Zach and his wife Kelly, of Casper Wyoming, longtime partner Terry Glidden and housemate Donna Campbell of Clarion.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Wright County Humane Society.
