Kathryn B. Ewing, 84, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 1992, at the Hancock
County Memorial Hospital.
Kathryn, the daughter of John and Eva (Aldrich) Cruise, was born January 9, 1908
at Wesley, Iowa. She graduated from Wesley High School. Following graduation
she operated a restaurant in Wesley.
She was united in marriage with Vernon Ewing in Armstrong, Iowa. The couple
first made their home in Swea City, Iowa. During WWII, while her husband was in
the military she continued to operate a produce station and learned to fly an
airplane. Following his discharge from the military the couple moved to Crystal
Lake, Iowa for a short time. Later they moved to Dolliver, Iowa. She was
employed at the Gray's Egg Packing Co. until her retirement. For the past five
years she has resided in Britt.
She was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church; C.D. of A's; the Rosary
Guild; American Legion Auxillary in Dolliver, Iowa; and the Britt Silver Stars.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon in 1985; two
brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include three sisters: Phyllis Mullin of Britt, Iowa; Evangeline and
her husband, Robert Kelly of Britt, Iowa; Jean and her husband, Wayne May of
Columbia City, Indiana.
