One cannot capture in so few words the strength of character and courage she possessed. This was demonstrated by the battle she fought for 17 years against emphysema, living the best life she could, while maintaining her “one of a kind” sense of humor. We cherish the memories of the countless hours she spent playing cribbage and chatting with her Deaf family and friends via the video phone.

Through it all, Kathryn remained resolute in her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  In the end, she said that Jesus was with her and that she was ready to go home.

Kathryn, the daughter of Raymond and Juanita Billings was born December 7, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa.  She attended the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  Kathryn was united in marriage with Gerald C. Meyer on December 30, 1962 at the Britt Lutheran Church.  She is survived by her three children, Duane and his wife Dixie of Iowa City, Iowa, Joseph and his wife Julie of Columbus, Nebraska, and her daughter Patty of Tempe, Arizona; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Thompson of Des Moines, Iowa and Candace Broveak of Sioux City, Iowa, and a brother James Billings of Carlisle, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Darrell in 2010.

Her wish in life was, “to make sure her name was in the Lamb’s Book of Life”
