Obituary


Kenneth “Ken” L. Pickar, 63, of Britt, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at Concord Care Center in Garner.

Funeral Services for Ken Pickar will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt. 

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Thursday at Ewing Funeral Chapel.

Kenneth Lee, son of Elmer and Anna Mae (Spradling) Pickar, was born on September 3, 1957 at Riceville, Iowa. He attended Cresco High School and graduated with the class of 1976. After high school he went to NorthEast Area One for large machines in 1978.

On May 28, 1994, Ken was united in marriage to Diane Hauge, in the backyard of his mother’s house. Ken was a supervisor for Armour for 25 years before most recently working at Stellar.

Ken loved doing all things outdoors including deer hunting, camping and fishing with the kids. He also enjoyed playing golf. When he was indoors he enjoyed playing cards and was on pool and dart leagues. Ken enjoyed watching westerns, anything with John Wayne was his favorite. Ken was a huge fan of the Pittsburg Steelers and the West Hancock Eagles.

Ken will be remembered by the best hugs he gave, and how he was always there to listen. He showed how he loved his family by the hugs he gave. To the grandchildren he was known as their “Papa” and would teach them how to be a hard worker with the work ethic he had.

Ken is survived by his wife of 27 years, Diane; children Audrae (Kris) Hoeft, Carrie “Jo” (Joe) Snyder, Jeffrey Allen Pickar, Tracy (James) Wood, Travis (Julie) Wiebke, and Troy (Emily) Wiebke; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers John (Nancy) Pickar; Allen “Al” (Tammy) Pickar; sister-in-law Jeannie Pickar; brother-in-law Marshall Knowles; and many nephews and nieces.

Ken is preceded by his parents, brothers Michael and Randy, sister Kathy, his grandparents, grandchildren Aryanna, Alex, Troy Jr., and great grandchild Lucion.
