Kimberly K. (Smith) Soma, 55 of Belmond, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022. Funeral services for Kim Soma will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 304 3rd Avenue Northeast in Belmond, with Pastor Katie Pals officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Reformed Cemetery in rural Belmond. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Kimberly Kay Soma, the daughter of Robert and Carolyn (McCaffrey) Smith, was born August 29, 1966 in Belmond, Iowa.  Kim grew up in Belmond and graduated from Belmond High School with the class of 1984.  After high school, Kim continued her education at Des Moines Area Community College getting her dental assistant degree. Kim married her high school sweetheart Mark Soma on April 25, 1992 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond.  To this union, three children were born Makayla, Rebecca and Andrew.  The family made their home in Belmond where Kim worked for the Dental Center of North Iowa for over 20 years. When Kim wasn't at work she enjoyed being outdoors working on her flowers and vegetable garden. Being with family was the most important thing to Kim. She took over organizing family events and always made it look nice with her decorative talents. She was very involved with her children and always loved having her granddaughters at Papa's and Gigi's. Kim will be remembered for being a very genuine and approachable person who would do anything for anyone. Kim is survived by her husband of 30 years Mark Soma of Belmond; children Makayla (Austin) Lette and their daughter Bristol of Independence, Rebecca (Quintin Galindo) Soma and their daughter Avery of Belmond and Andrew Soma of Belmond; siblings Steve (Devin) Smith, Roy (Monique) Smith, Kerri (Dave) Pals, Brandon Smith, Bryan Smith; her parents-in-law Charles and Phebe Soma; brothers and sisters-in-law Camilla Gabrielson, Angie Anderson, Darrin (Jana) Soma, Kevin (Angie) Soma along with many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Carolyn in 2005, her father Robert in 2020, brother Michael Smith in 1973 and brother-in-law Marc in 2019.
