Obituary

Laura Ruby Maynard, 94, of Kanawha passed away Sunday, November 6, 2005, at Kanawha Community Home.

Ruby as she preferred to be called and most knew her by, was born in Illinois on October 29, 1911, the daughter of Charles and Ida (Dickens) Beer.  At a very young age she and her family moved to a farm by Denhart.  She attended country school through the 8th grade.

In June of 1931, she married Frank Maynard.  They had four children, Ray, Jennie, Hazel, and Jimmie.  She was a long time resident of Kanawha.  Her children and grandchildren were very special to her.

She belonged to the Rebekah Lodge for many years and served in all the positions several times.

She loved sewing for her kids and especially for her grandkids.  She wove rag rugs and did a lot of crocheting.

For several years, she worked for Dean Hughes at the cafe.  After her husband Frank passed away in 1971, she went to work at the Kanawha Community Home.  She became a resident of the home in June 1995.

Left to cherish her memory are two children: son, Ray and Verla Maynard of Bloomington, Minnesota and daughter, Hazel and Charles Barloon of Forest City; daughter-in-law, Margaret Maynard of Ettrick, Wisconsin; seventeen grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; thirty two great-grandchildren; twelve step great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Those preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Frank; daughter Jennie; son, Jimmie; son-in-law, Duane; daughter-in-law, De; three grandsons, one step-grandson; three brothers, and four sisters.
