Laura Sporaa, 82, of Clarion, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Funeral services for Laura Sporaa will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, July 21, 2006 at Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home in Clarion with Pastor Curt Miner officiating. Burial will be held in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Dows. Visitation of Lora Sporaa will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, July 20, 2006 at the Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street Clarion and will continue one hour prior to the services at the Funeral Home. Laura Mae Sporaa was born January 4, 1924 to parents Henry and Ida (Williams) Bergefer at Coulter, Iowa. At a young age they moved to Dows, Iowa. Laura was united in marriage to Carl Sporaa January 10, 1942 in Palo Pinto, Texas. The family moved to Dows and built a house, in 1956 they moved to Minnesota and in 1957 they settled in Clarion. Laura worked at our Place Bar and Grill, and then for Robie's Super Value and Clarion Super Value. She retired in 1998 after 40 years. Laura was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her friends. Surviving Laura are her three sons, Larry of Clarion, Donald and his wife Carolyn of Kanawaha, and Dennia and his wife Christina of Clarion; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren. Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; infant son, Charles; one great granddaughter; one brother; and three sisters.
