Obituary


Lavonne K. (Ausborn) Prescott, 73, of Belmond, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 15, 2022 at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond, with Pastor Nicole Woodley officiating. Burial will take place at Belmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond, and will continue one hour prior to services on Friday.

Lavonne Kay (Ausborn) Prescott, the daughter of Ervin and Nellie (Sherwood) Ausborn, was born February 21, 1949 in Belmond, Iowa. She grew up in Klemme and attended school there. She graduated from Klemme High School with the class of 1967. After high school, Lavonne continued her education at University of Northwestern. She obtained her degree in medical laboratory technician.

After college, Lavonne moved back to the area where she met Dennis Prescott. The couple was united in marriage on December 23, 1977 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belmond. The couple lived in area towns before coming back to Belmond to raise their family.

Lavonne worked at the Humboldt Hospital, Belmond Hospital, the Mayo Clinic in Garner before retiring. After retirement, she kept busy making scrapbooks, gardening vegetables, and planting flowers.

She also enjoyed watching sports, she was a big fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Iowa Hawkeyes, and cheering for the local Belmond-Klemme Broncos. Lavonne loved to spend time with her family especially if they were celebrating the holidays. She loved being a Grandma most of all. They took many trips together including Mexico, Texas, Walt Disney and trips out to Virginia. She will be remembered as a very loving and caring person who would welcome anyone.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years Dennis Prescott of Clarion; children Cathy (Chad) Bingman of Williamsburg, Virginia and children McKenna and Addison, Joel (Krystal) Martin-Prescott of Clarion and children Keira and Konner, and Kristy Prescott of Williamsburg, Virginia; brother Terry (Sue) Ausborn; sister Linda Lillebo along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son Billy Prescott.
