Le Anne Patterson, 74, of Dows, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 8, 2026 at St. John's Catholic Church, 608 2nd Avenue Northeast in Clarion. Burial will be in the Galt Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Ewing Funeral Home in Clarion. A Rosary and Scriptural Vigil will begin at 1:00 PM prior to visitation.
Le Anne Sofia Edith Rasmussen Patterson was born March 12, 1952 in Trieste, Italy. Her parents were Sergeant Earl J. Rasmussen and Sofia Guiseppi. Her momma was a survivor of WWII. The three traveled several countries in Europe while Earl was in the Army.
On May 4, 1955, Le Anne and Sofia traveled from Europe to New York City on a military transport plane. From there, on a Soo Line train, they traveled along the Great Lakes to Duluth, Minnesota. They lived in Two Harbors for almost two years with Earl's parents, Carl and Ollie Rasmussen.
In 1955, her parents divorced and Le Anne and Sofia moved to Duluth. After attending several public schools and moving various times, Le Anne graduated from Denfeld High School on June 3, 1970. Le Anne always loved being by Lake Superior. Going down to the shoreline, watching stormy waves and feeling the wetness of the waves.
The spring of 1969 with Gary's cousins help, she met her future husband. In May 1971, she graduated from Canby Area Vocational Technical Institute as a Certified Dental Assistant. She moved to Iowa and worked for Doctor Skinner for a short time. On June 20, 1971, she married Gary L. Patterson. To this union two daughters were born Lisa M. on March 13, 1975 and Angela M. May 25, 1979. Le Anne spent 28 3/4 years at the Dows Community School in the Special Education Department. While there, she especially enjoyed her time with LuAnn Peter's and all of the other children. During her time in Dows, she was active in the community as First Responder, Girl Scout Leader and a big supporter of Wright County 4-H and the Blaine Blue Ribbon Winners. She retired in May of 2012.
Le Anne enjoyed reading, quilting and watching murder mystery movies. She also enjoyed her adventures of watching her granddaughters, Harley and Lea. She traveled to many t- ball games, countless concert programs, and more recently musicals, fair and track meets. She loved showing her love by being present for her family. Le Anne enjoyed traveling and attending Pow Wows and shopping at outside markets with her daughter Lisa.
She was preceded in death by her parents Sofia Rasmussen (Guiseppi) and Earl J. Rasmussen; uncle Harry Conliff; and grandparents Carl and Olive Rasmussen.
She is survived by her husband Gary L. Patterson; daughters Lisa M. Patterson (Jeff Greene) and Angela Charlson (Austin); granddaughters Harley and Lea Charlson; and uncle Winston (Carol) Rasmussen.
