Obituary
Leila L. (Heck) Eggers, 93, of Clarion passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at Careage of Clarion in Clarion.
A memorial graveside service for Leila Eggers will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, with Reverend Doctor Ronald Yarnell officiating.
Leila Lavonne (Heck) Eggers was born May 17, 1918 in rural Burnside, Iowa to Elmer and Mae Sophi (Bebee) Heck.
Leila was raised and educated in the Webster City area, and began teaching in rural Hamilton County in 1936.
On June 1, 1941, Leila was united in marriage to Don Eggers in Webster City. The couple soon moved to Burbank, California, where Leila was employed as an executive secretary for Lockheed for many years until her retirement.
Don passed away in the mid-1990’s, and Leila moved to Clarion in January of 2003.
Leila was a lifelong Lutheran and was very active throughout the years in her church communities.
Leila enjoyed quilting, especially with the ladies church group, flower gardening, spending time with her friends, and was a dog lover.
Leila is survived by her brother, Elmer (Mary) Heck of Webster City; nieces Di Ann (Morris) Peterson of Clarion, Dorothy Hammond of Houston, Missouri, Barbara (Marvin) McKeran of Princeton, Missouri, and Sandra Heck of Dodge Center, Minnesota; and nephew Darl (Deloris) Ferguson of Princeton, Missouri.
Leila is preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, sisters Hermal Fetter, Verla Ferguson, and Vesta Klooster and her brothers Loren, Clifford, Carl, John, Ralph, and Earl Heck.
