Leon Francis O'Rourke, 85, passed away Saturday, August 20, 1994, at the Heritage Care Center in Mason City, Iowa. Leon, the son of Thomas and Margaret (Horstman) O'Rourke, was born January 13, 1909 on a farm near Britt.  He attended the country school in Erin Township. He farmed with his parents until his marriage to Clara Vondracek on July 10, 1934 at Duncan.  After their marriage, the couple farmed on a farm southeast of Britt.  They then moved to a farm northeast of Britt where they farmed for 36 years.  In July of 1981 they moved into Britt. He is survived by his daughter Leona and her husband, Norman Reed of Mason City; a sister, LaVon Benner of Albert Lea, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Connie Hickle and her husband, Berry of Manly, Leon J. Reed and his wife, Ann of Blaine, Minnesota, Greg Reed of Mason City; five great-grandchildren: Jamie Reed, Tamara Hickle, Lindsay Hickle, Cody Hickle and Cheyene Reed; one great-great grandchild: Tyler Austin Reed; and a special niece, Marge Arndorfer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Clara on September 24, 1989, three brothers and one grandson, Donald.
