LeRoy Albert, son of William and Louise (Loux) Schaumburg was born August 10,
1930 at home in Clarion. He graduated May 27, 1948 from Clarion High School.
LeRoy was a dedicated athlete in high school finishing 3rd place at the state
wrestling tournament twice. He always talked about when the Cubs recruiter came
to watch him at baseball practice and he had just left! And many memories of
playing for the Clarion Cowboys football team. LeRoy went into the US Marines
and served in the Korean Conflict until January 1954.
On March 20, 1955 LeRoy was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Bell at St.
Peter's Lutheran Church, Woolstock. LeRoy and Barb made their home and farmed in
the Wright County area as they raised their four children. He considered himself
a proud "poor white sharecropper". He was always complaining of being surrounded
by all girls but his six granddaughters were his world and he wouldn't have had
it any other way. A proud moment in his life was walking his granddaughter Megan
down the aisle just a couple of months ago. Above all else, he loved his family
and engrained in each of them the value of having God in their lives and faith
in their hearts.
LeRoy is survived by his wife Barb, of almost 65 years; son, Randall (Marilyn)
Schaumburg; daughters, Rhonda Draeger, and LeAnn (Keith) Johnson; 5
granddaughters Danielle (Scott) Scheffel, Megan (Edward) Parra, Samantha Lizer,
Alexandra Johnson, and Randi Jo Schaumburg; 3 great-grandchildren Spencer Scott
Scheffel, Carly Curtiss Scheffel and Esley Jo Angela Lizer; sister, Georgene
Breiner; sister-in-law, Myrtle Schaumburg; along with many nieces, nephews,
extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers; Joseph, Chester, and Richard; sister,
Marie Christian; son, Curtis Schaumburg; and granddaughter, Angela Draeger.
