Obituary


Lester "Les" M. Anderson, 83, of Kanawha passed away Sunday, December 3, 2006 at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha.

Les, the son of Burton and Laura (Wharton) Anderson, was born November 13, 1923 in Gilbertville, Iowa. During WWII he served as a medic for three years in the U.S. Air Force.

Les was united in marriage with Andree "DeDee" Baruzier on December 1, 1945 in Paris, France.

Les and DeDee moved to Kanawha in 1948 where they have since resided.  He was technician for Eastern Iowa Breeders Association, doing artificial insemination of cows for 20 years.  Les then was employed for 18 years by the Kanawha Co-op Oil, retiring in 1986.  Les and DeDee were also owners and operators of Anderson Department Store in Kanawha from 1965 until 1986.

Les is survived by his wife of 61 years Andree "DeDee" Anderson;  one son, Christian Anderson and his wife, Sandra of Owatonna, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Michelle Cousins and her husband, Gregory of Waseca, Minnesota, Anthony Anderson of Wallkill, New York, Angela Brown and her husband, Ryan of Owatonna, Minnesota; four great-grandchildren: Ethan and Mason Cousins, Dylan and Tyler Brown; three brothers: Delbert Anderson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Donald Anderson and his wife, Ione of Mesa, Arizona, Burton Anderson, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Ralph Anderson of Goodell, Iowa and Kenneth Anderson of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
