Peacefully, in her home, Letha O. Nichols passed away on October 13, 2005.
Letha O. Harris was born on February 8, 1925 in Stratford to Ernest and Olivia
(Foster) Harris. She graduated from Popejoy High School in 1943. She was united
in marriage to Carmon Hershel Nichols on August 19, 1944 in Eagle Grove.
Throughout her lifetime, she had been employed at the turkey plant in Ellsworth;
Boyd Manufacturing in Iowa Falls; and Asgrow Seed Corn in Clarion. However, she
spent most of her life serving her family as a wonderful wife. mother and
housewife. Letha, her husband and children moved several times in Iowa and
Missouri during her married life and settled in Dows in 1972. Letha moved to
Goldfield in 2003.
Letha enjoyed the quiet things in life. She liked to people watch and go on
drives to see the countryside. She enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels eat
and play in her yard. She also spent her spare time embroidering, cooking,
baking, reading, and keeping house.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son Arnold Nichols.
She is survived by her five children Burl (Roxie) of MO, Sandra Thomas of Eagle
Grove, Kathi (Roger) Franklin of OK, Russel (Brenda) Nichols of Eldora, and
Pattie Nichols of Goldfield; one sister Nadine Jackson of Dows; 9 grandchildren;
and 17 great-grandchildren.
