Obituary


Lillian Gladys Charbonneaux, 78, of Britt, Iowa, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at the Westview Care Center in Britt, Iowa.

Lillian was born on July 11, 1926, to John and Gladys (Plantz) Smit in Kanawha, Iowa.  She grew up in Kanawha and later moved to Crystal Lake where she met and married Roy.  The couple made their home in Britt where Lillian cared for her husband and four daughters.

Lillian's love for her family was huge; her life centered around her family.

She enjoyed baking, bowling, crafts, baking bread, playing cards, and bingo.  She and her husband wintered in Texas for twenty-eight years.

Lillian was a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Rebecca Lodge, and a member of the Methodist Church in Britt.

Survivors include her husband, Roy, and four daughters: Lanette (Bill) Arnold of Klemme, Jane (Gordie) Beier of Garner, Joyce (James) Blankenship of Katy, Texas, and Peg Charbonneaux of Clear Lake, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren: Monica (Jason) Charlie, Michelle Trca, Tami Trca, Travis (Trisha) Trca, Jesse (Angie) Pringnitz, Chris (Eric) Jackson, Jerry (Karrie) Pringnitz, Roy Hrubes, Gina (Pat) Pecinovsky, Kathi (Jerry) Glascock, Brent Wellik, Lee Leerar, Kelly (Garen) Janes, and Lynn Francis, and twenty-two great-grandchildren; a sister, Vera (Herb) Hinz of Charles City, and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Smidt of Britt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Tena Applehons and Helen Engebretson and brother, Larry Anderson.
