Linda J. (Quam) Schneckloth

Linda Jolene Schneckloth, age 70, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2020, at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond from complications resulting after a stroke.

Funeral services for Linda Schneckloth will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 304 3rd Avenue North East, in Belmond with Pastor Katie Pals officiating. Burial will be at the Story City Municipal Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Thursday afternoon.

Visitation for Linda Schneckloth will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Linda was born April 1, 1950 in Ames, Iowa to Howard & Vivian Quam.

The Quam family resided on a farm north of Story City, where Linda developed a love for the outdoors. Some of her favorite activities included spending time on the farm, lifeguarding at the pool, participating in 4-H projects, and sports… more specifically softball. Linda played first base on the 1966 South Hamilton High School State Championship Softball Team.

After graduating from high school in 1968, she continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. During her time in college, Linda met Jon Schneckloth and upon graduation in 1972, the couple were married and later divorced.

Soon after college, they moved to Belmond and the final place that Linda called home. While in the workforce, Linda pursued a career as a Bookkeeper at Printing Services, Inc., First Gabrielson Agency, and North Central Human Services.

In 1976, the couple welcomed a son, Clay Schneckloth. Linda was a dedicated, supportive, and loving mother. She never missed one of his activities or an opportunity to spend time with her son.

Linda was a beloved member of the Belmond community. She was a 50-year member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She happily participated in the church’s bell choir and anticipated Wednesday rehearsal night.

Continuing her love for the outdoors into her adulthood, Linda could be seen nearly everyday traversing the sidewalks of Belmond or golfing in ladies league at the country club.

Later in life, Linda became a snowbird and enjoyed living in Phoenix for a couple months each year. This gave her the opportunity to swim on a daily basis and socialize with friends. She was always up for a good joke, just ask her Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Sisters.

All those who had the pleasure to know Linda, will truly miss her gentle, caring spirit. Her joy for life and people was inescapable.

Linda is survived by her son Clay, mother Vivian, and brother David. She was preceded in death by her father Howard.
