Lois Lorraine (Keeling) Southard, 88, passed away at Iowa Specialty Hospital,
Clarion on April 11, 2020 surrounded by her family.
Due to Governor Reynolds' current declaration for limiting attendance at public
gatherings, public services will be held at a later date. Private family
graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.
Lois was born in Goodell, Iowa on February 7, 1932, the daughter of Orie and
Alice (Dresher) Keeling. She graduated from Clarion High School in 1951. On
December 30, 1951 Lois was united into marriage with Raynard H. Southard. Two
children were born to this union, Debra Jean and Mark Ray. They set up
housekeeping on the farm near Clarion where they farmed until retirement and
moved into Clarion.
Lois was a member of the Church of Christ where she served as deaconess for many
years. She loved to square dance; she and Raynard were members of a square dance
club. Lois was also a member of the Cornbelt County Cloggers and was club
treasurer.
Lois and Raynard spent quite a few winters in Arizona. They pulled their camping
trailer there and stayed at a lovely park. She also enjoyed camping very much.
She loved the mountains of Arizona and always had a wonderful time there!
Lois is survived by her husband, Raynard; children, Debra (Jerry) Johnson of
Galt and Mark (Dana) Southard of Clarion; grandchildren, Greg Johnson, Shallon
(Josh) Weis, Mandy (Charles) Lewis, Krystle (Derek) Holmes, Tasha (Jered)
Brantner; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beverly (Robert) Delger, Shirley
(Jerry) Curran, Judy Wiemann; sister-in-law, Joyce Keeling; many nieces and
nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Michael Johnson and
brother, Verlyn Keeling; brother-in-law, Roger Wiemann.
She is and will be greatly missed.
