Obituary


Loma A. Skauge, age 91, of Clarion, Iowa, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Wright Medical Center in Clarion, IA.

Funeral services for Loma A. Skauge will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, July 28, 2008 at the Clarion Church of Christ in Clarion, with Pastor Mark Young officiating.  Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.

Visitation for Loma Skauge 5-7 PM, Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, Clarion, Iowa, 50525, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Loma Aileen Skauge was born on January 20, 1917, to Duane & Clara Wilcox Richardson on a farm in Wall lake Township, Wright County, Iowa.  She graduated from Clarion High School in 1935.

 Loma was baptized in December 1929 and was a lifelong member of the Clarion Church of Christ.

 She was secretary to the Clarion Public Schools Board of Education and Superintendent C. J. Christianson from 1942 – 1947.

 On July 20, 1946 she married Harold J. Skauge.  They resided in Dayton Township until moving to the Meadows in Clarion in 2004.

 Loma enjoyed her family (mentoring and encouraging her nieces and nephews and their families), gardening, canning, embroidery and handwork, and making many quilts.  They had fond memories of their many fishing trips to Canada, and traveling to Norway, Alaska and the Caribbean.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister Leta, brother Melvin Richardson, and sister Juanita Marshall.

She is survived by her husband Harold, nieces and nephews: Carrie Ann and Larry Olson of Clarion, James and Jerilyn Richardson of Oak Forest, IL; Anita and Art Van Ravenhorst of Sioux Center; John and Lavon Marshall of Clarion; Judy and Kevin Ofstethun of Clarion; Ilene and Dale Timmerman of Ft. Dodge; Steve and Shirley Hasty of Kanawha; Gary and Darcy Robb of Clarion; Mark Robb of Des Moines; Lisa and Don Johnson of Garner; brother-in-law Daryl Marshall of Clarion; sister-in-law Alva Hasty of Kanawha; brother-in-law Maynard Beyer and wife Barbara of Garner.
