Lorie Ann (Wicks) Patrick, the daughter of Larry and Marlys (Osby) Wicks, was born August 24, 1964, in Belmond, Iowa. She grew up outside of Kanawha and graduated from Kanawha High School with the class of 1982.

Lorie continued her education and her musical talent at Waldorf University. Her proficient flute and piccolo performing took her around the world with the college band and choir. She finished her teaching degree at Wartburg College.

Her travels weren’t done yet; her first teaching position was in Alaska, followed by California. There she met the love of her life, Frank Patrick. The couple was united in marriage on July 16, 1994 at the family farm.

The couple moved back to the area where Lorie worked at several local businesses before accepting a position at the Wright County Auditor’s office.

In her free time, Lorie enjoyed any activity that involved her family. Whether it was camping, spending time at the lake, or learning how to cook Norwegian delicacies. Her favorite thing of all time was raising her son Graham. She loved being his biggest fan and didn’t miss any event no matter what.

Lorie will be remembered for her unbelievable spirit and loving heart. Being a child of God, she was a good and faithful servant. She fought the good fight and finished her race.

She is survived by her husband Frank of Alexander; son Graham of Alexander; brothers Dr. Thomas (Dr. Laura) Wicks of Checotah, Oklahoma and LeRoy Wicks of Kanawha; nieces Ashley and Margaret and nephews Thomas Jr. and James.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kanawha Lutheran Church.
