Obituary


Louis Donald Casper, 86, passed away Sunday, September 24, 1995 at the Westview Care Center in Britt, Iowa.

Mr. Casper was born December 28, 1908, near Primrose, Nebraska, a son of William C. and Jennie (Steinhilber) Casper.  He grew up in the Pinnacle Hill community in Boone County, Nebraska and graduated in 1926 from Cedar Rapids High School at Cedar Rapids, Nebraska.  During high school he plated on the state tournament basketball team.

On February 25, 1933, he was united in marriage with Helen Sanford at Belgrade, Nebraska.  They farmed in Boone County until they moved to a farm near Britt, Iowa in 1957.  Louis was a grain farmer and cattle feeder.  Farming was his life, he never really retired.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Britt.

Survivors include Helen, his wife of sixty-two years, two sons and four daughters: Connie Mattox and her husband, Don of Huntsville, Alabama; George and his wife, Judy of Cabool, Missouri; Mary Doughty and her husband, Bill of Cedar Rapids, Nebraska; Paul and his wife, Maruta of Prairieville, Louisiana; Linda Thompson and her husband, Lynn of Estherville, Iowa; Margaret Dewey and her husband, Chuck of Nokomis, Florida; a sister, Violet Johnson of West Point, Nebraska; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a young brother, Glennie, a sister, Mrs. Walter (Gladys) Lundeen, a son, Lanny Casper in 1981 and a granddaughter, Michele Thompson.
