Lucille "Lucy" Berhow, 95, of Kanawha, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the
Kanawha Community Home following ill health. Private family services will be
held.
Lucy was born to John W. and Naomi (Norris) Chapman on the family farm south of
Belmond on September 25, 1926. She attended rural school in Wright County and
graduated from Belmond High School in May of 1943. She worked outside the home
at various jobs for many years before retiring in August of 1990.
She was married to LeRoy (Bud) Berhow on February 24, 1946, at the First
Congregational Church in Belmond. She was a confirmed member of the Kanawha
Lutheran Church and was active in Circle and General Aid. She enjoyed sewing,
crafts and many quilts which she gave to her children and their families. She
enjoyed bird watching and made many trips out to East and West Twin Lakes
watching the wildlife in their migration. She also was a devout fan of the
Atlanta Braves and hardly ever missed a ballgame. Most of her life was centered
around her family.
She is survived by two daughters: Patsy (Kevin) Sanders of Fayetteville,
Tennessee and Becky Ruter of Corwith; one son Tim (Nancy) Berhow of Corwith;
seven grandchildren: Brian (Holly) Hegg, Brent ( Angie) Sanders, Matt Sanders,
Chad (Sara) Lang, Casey (Emily) Ruter, Amy (Mark) Wolter, and Cole Berhow;
eleven great-grandchildren: Michael Bronemann, Brynn and Tyler Hegg, Payton and
Conner Sanders, Calvin and Hayden Lang, Jack and Wyatt Ruter, and Avery and Asa
Wolter; great-great granddaughter Liv Lucille Lang and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her daughter, Judy; her
beloved granddaughter, Angi Hegg Bronemann; her beloved great-grandson, Jacob
Lang; three sisters: June Mellott, Mae Drury, and Darlene Tillman.
