Obituary


Lucille Swan Hitchcock, 78, passed away Thursday, May 13, 1993 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa.

Lucille was born October 28, 1914, in Klemme, Iowa.  The daughter of Elmer and Romanda (Kleeman) Ludeke.  She lived in Klemme and Garner areas and graduated from Britt High School in 1933.

She was united in marriage in 1934 to Ellis "Ace" Swan in Morning Sun, Iowa.  The couple lived most of their lives in Britt where they owned and operated a Coffee Shop for 13 years.  She then worked as a Dental Assistant in Britt and was also responsible for two Alcoholic Rehabilitation Centers in Jordan, Minnesota and Canton, South Dakota.

Her husband passed away in 1989.  In 1992, she was united in marriage to Homer Hitchcock and they made their home in Clear Lake, Iowa.

She was a member of the Britt Congregational United Church of Christ.  She also attended the Kanawha United Methodist Church from 1976 to 1992 and most recently, the First Congregational Church in Clear Lake.

Survivors include her husband, Homer Hitchcock of Clear Lake, Iowa; a son, Michael and his wife, Elly Swan of Vernon, Connecticut; a step-daughter, Judy Flowers of Katy, Texas; a granddaughter, Sara Swan of Vernon, Connecticut; four step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild; two brothers: Clarence and his wife, Marie Ludeke of Pecatonica, Illinois and Lyle and his wife, Rhoda Ludeke of Standardsville, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, and a sister, Merle Lloyd.
