Helen Lucylle (Nevin) Triem, age 96, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at
the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Clarion, Iowa. Burial in
Clermont, Iowa will be held at a later date.
Lucylle was born November 4, 1924 to Howard and Helen (Luke) Nevin in Escondido,
CA. (The day she was born, Calvin Coolidge was elected our 30th President).
Growing up on a fruit and vegetable ranch, she spent her early years working on
the farm and participating in music and athletics at Escondido High School.
She met and later married Harold Triem in June 1945. Soon after, they moved to
Clermont, Iowa, where they reared two daughters. She was a loving homemaker who
also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and horseback riding with family.
Throughout her life she continued to sew, knit and crochet for friends and
family.
She returned to Escondido for a time to care for her elderly mother. She also
lived in South Dakota and Arizona before returning to Iowa.
She spent her final two years in the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center.
This was a move she accepted, and immediately came to love all those who worked
there.
Lucylle kept all those around her entertained with her quick wit and advanced
technological skills. She often asked Alexa to fire up her TV or microwave , or
to play music by Andrea Bocelli. She joked that the secret to a long life was to
stop eating yogurt.
Lucylle is survived by a daughter, Fayne Szabo, Clarion; two grandsons: Brett
(Stacy) Szabo, Sioux Falls, SD; Mark (Erin) Szabo, Avon, Mn; and granddaughter,
Elizabeth (Michael) Ennis, Clarion. Six great grandchildren: Anežka, Alexander,
and Isabella Szabo; Eliana Szabo; and Elliot and Ainslee Ennis; niece, Marcia
(Leon) Dibble; and nephews David Triem and Lowell (Rita) Lyngaas.
Preceding her in death are daughter, Georgia Rae in 1964, son-in-law Leon Szabo,
her parents and sister, Dorothy Lyngaas.
