Obituary


Lula A. Bell, age 88, of Klemme, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Kanawha Community Home.

Funeral services for Lula A. Bell will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Immanuel Reformed UCC in Klemme. Rev. Donna Buckman will officiate. Burial will take place in the Ell Township Cemetery.

Lula Arlene Bell, the daughter of Lauretz and Laura (Christie) Peterson was born March 2, 1927 near Goodell IA. Lula grew up in the Goodell area and graduated from Goodell High School on May 18, 1944. She was united in marriage to Frederick Orville Bell on January 20, 1949 at the Immanuel Reformed Church, Klemme IA.
Beginning in 1953, the couple farmed east of Klemme for over 50 years. Their union was blessed with two sons, William and Lynn, and two daughters, Elsie and Eva. Frederick and Lula moved into the town of Klemme in August 2004. Lula has been a resident of the Kanawha Community Home the past two years.
Lula enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing cards, gardening, and doing word searches. Lula’s grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great granddaughter were special to her. She went to many of their activities and had a large collection of their pictures.
Lula was a member of the Immanuel Reformed UCC Church, where she was active in the Women’s Fellowship, taught Sunday School, and was a youth leader. For several years, she was a 4-H leader. Lula was a member of the Klemme American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, William (Joleyne) Bell, Klemme, Elsie (Keith) Frohwein, Zearing, Lynn (Dayle) Bell, Klemme, and Eva (Lester) Schnabel, Sheffield; her grandchildren and their families: Lisa Smith, Zac (Jessica) and MaKinley, Mackenzy, and Linzey; Stephanie (Jeff) Baker, Jake, Nick, and Breyden; Brandon (Jo) Frohwein, Mark and Lucas; Travis (Deb) Bell, Dylan, Raider, Nyxon, Ciera, and Emma; Todd (Tara) Frohwein, Tytan and Tate; Dennis (Callie) Frohwein, Ryley and Harper; April (Steven) Watson and Ava, Paula Schnabel, Matthew (Krystal)Schnabel and Lillian, Laura (Kyle) Hegtvedt, and Rebecca (Jared) Winkie; step grandchildren and their families: Nikki (Donn) Ashland, Seth; Christopher (Tera) Bachman, Christian and Jaxson; and Danielle Bachman, Libby and Emma. Sisters-in-law, Edna Peterson, Julia Gordon, and Ruth Marchand-Pringnitz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frederick, one great granddaughter, Shelby Smith, 7 sisters and 4 brothers.
