Obituary


Lyle E. Dallman passed away at his farm near Hutchins of natural causes on April 4, 2001.  Lyle was a life time resident of Hancock County and was born December 19, 1917 to Herman and Anna Dallman.  He attended country schools and graduated from Britt High School.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe for 4 years earning a field commission as a lieutenant.  He was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart.  While at home on furlough, he was married to Evelyn Hanson at her parent's Crystal Lake home on March 2, 1945.  Lyle and Evelyn had 5 children, David of Texas, Danita of Chicago, Illinois, Timonthy and wife Linda of Arvada, Colorado, Peter and wife Francie of Iowa City, Iowa, and Brian and wife Cindy of Britt, Iowa.  Lyle had 7 grandchildren, Kerrie and Lori Dallman daughters of Tim and Linda, Kaitlin and Chelsea daughters of Peter and Francie, Rachel, Mathew and Anna daughters and son of Brian and Cindy.

Lyle farmed in Orthel Township after World War II and moved to Britt with his family in 1963.  He continued farming and did plumbing, electrical, and carpenter work in the area.  He attended the Evangelical Free Church most of his life.  He served on the Britt City Council for 11 years and worked for the City of Britt for 4 year prior to retiring.  He continued doing small jobs and working at his acreage after retirement.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Kenneth, his sister Grances, and his granddaughter Rachel.
